Hi-tech partnership to review Nigeria justice system

Techo fingerprintABUJA, (CAJ News) - THE Nigeria Police Force has entered into a
partnership with the United Kingdom’s Association of Criminal Records
Office (ACRO) in a bid to retool the former’s security architecture.

Emmanuel Ojukwu, Force Public Relations Officer, said the synergy will
among other things include the review Nigeria Police Criminal Justice
System, develop a criminal records register, provide the police with
electronic criminal records gadgets and modernise police information
technology needs.

Ojukwu added that David Mckinney and Graeme Wallace from ACRO made
presentations on the benefits of electronic finger print data base during
a visit to Force Headquarters in Abuja.

He said members of the Nigeria Police Forum, from the UK Metropolitan
Police, representatives from the Ministry of Police Affairs, Prisons,
Economic and Financial Crime Commission and the Nigeria Immigration
Service were also in attendance during the visit.

Ojukwu said the Inspector General of Police, SOLOMON Arase, maintained
that the benefit of having forensic led investigation could be
overemphasised, as it underpinned the strategic importance of partnering
with ACRO.
