ABUJA, (CAJ News) – PLANS to transform Nigeria from a resource based to a knowledge based economy have intensified after the federal government concluded plans to donate science and technology equipment to some schools across the country.

Minister of Science and Technology, Dr Ogbonnaya Onu, disclosed the plans at the introduction of tablet technology at the Regent Primary School in Abuja.

He also indicated that the ministry will set up science and technology museum that will help students to understand science technology and  engineering thereby making them easier and attractive to the students.

“When we invest in Science and technology we would have the capacity to  build our roads, seaport and airports and this would give us national pride. It is important for world peace that Nigeria becomes a strong nation,” said Onu.

He added, “No nation is great without science and technology and stressed  that the difference between developing and developed countries is purely the utilization of science and technology.”

The Headmaster of Regent Primary School, Michael Dickson, said the introduction of tablet technology in schools was to complement the work of teachers.
