LAGOS – EXPERTS have urged Nigeria to be hands-on in addressing rampant cybercrime in the West African country.

The advice has come at the end of the CyberXchange Conference held at the Landmark Event Centre in Lagos.

“Organizations, boards and CEOs need to be proactive in dealing with cyber crime,” Dr David Isiavwe, President of Information Security Society of Africa-Nigeria (ISAAN), said.

CyberXchange Conference is West Africa’s premier information security conference.

The conference was strategically aimed at updating information security professionals on the essential security trends that will enhance
protection for company and client’s most valuable assets.

The two-day CyberXchange Conference, featured keynotes sessions, exhibitions and workshops.

These features examined current cyber security trends and practical solutions as discussed by global industry leaders.

Speaking at the event, Facebook Chief Information Security Officer, Alex Stamos, said he was inspired to see the energy at CyberXchange focused on developing security talent and finding solutions to security problems that companies and governments faced.

“I particularly enjoyed the hackathon that brought talented students together to design prototypes and build community with others who share a passion for cyber security,” said Stamos.

Nigeria is ranked the worst country in Africa on cyber crime, committed mostly by youngsters taking advantage of the rise in online services.
