Ex-staffer in court for defrauding mobile telco

Court symbolLAGOS, (CAJ News) – A FORMER staff of MTN Nigeria who allegedly defrauded the mobile operator in a land lease in 2008, has been arraigned at the Federal High Court in Port Harcourt.
Prince Spencer Adikibi, a former Base Transceiver Station (BTS) land acquisition officer, on Wednesday appeared before Justice Uche Nma Agomoh on a two-count charge bordering on forgery.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission is seeking his prosecution.
MTN Nigeria alleged forged and signed a renewal of Tenancy Mast Space Document to one Allwell Onyeotito, the landlord of the said property where an MTN mast was erected.
According to investigation, the lease was meant for ten years, which MTN paid for an undisclosed amount of money but the defendant in a bid to defraud the complainant, forged and altered the company’s documents,thereby shortening the period of the contract to five years.
It is alleged he diverted the balance of the funds for his personal use.
He pleaded not guilty.
Justice Agomoh granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200 000.
The case has been adjourned to April 11-14 for trial.
