ABUJA, (CAJ News) – THE Nigerian Defence is strengthening its response to the increasing incidences of cyber attacks locally and around the globe.
Director of Defence Information (DDI), Maj-Gen. John Enenche, said there had been significant measures implemented behind the scenes and these would be unveiled soon.
“We are doing a lot in the area of cyber security,” said Enenche during a Defence Correspondents Seminar in the capital Abuja.
The seminar was conducted under the theme, “Professional Information Management a Panacea for Improved National Security.”
“This response has gone beyond hosting seminars. A lot of people have been trained and are very knowledgeable in that area,” he added.
“The measures will soon be made public because the new battlefield is in the cyber space.”
Nigeria has a reputation for cyber crime.
In 2015, then-President Goodluck Jonathan signed the cyber crime bill into law. Through the act, cybercrime is now defined and legal consequences are attached to any defiance of the law.
