JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – GIFT of the Givers Foundation has launched a first-of-its-kind mobile application to facilitate simple, seamless and secure donations.SAP Africa, Assegai & Javelin, a strategic brand and marketing agency, and app development specialists, Appy, have jointly developed the app on the SAP Cloud Platform.The platform is an enterprise platform-as-a-service offering comprehensive app development services and capabilities that enable customers to accelerate digital transformation across their businesses without the need for on-premise infrastructure investment.Dr Imtiaz Sooliman, Founder and Chairman of Gift of the Givers, said with society having become heavily invested in the technological age, the organisation’s aim as a charitable body was to move into this space, providing donor organisations as well as the general public ease of access to activities.This would enable them to become involved in changing the lives of the needy.“Immediacy of action is key today and the solution lay in the development of a unique app,” said Sooliman. Established 25 years ago Gift of the Givers is the largest disaster response organisation of African origin.It has to date of some R2,1 billion (US$163,7 million).The Gift of the Givers app is now available, free of charge, on the Apple App Store and Google Play Store. Mehmood Khan, Chief Operating Officer at SAP Africa, said the app was unique and true to the values espoused by the Gift of the Givers.He said the app’s development was centred on affordability and the ability to make a difference.Khan said the app ensured the lowest point of entry made first interaction easy at the lowest cost possible, while three ‘taps’ got users started.“A set of feedback loops demonstrates ‘live’ evidence of the Gift of the Givers’ delivery and impact on people,” Khan said.Meanwhile, SAP has seen at a global level how businesses leverage the SAP Cloud Platform to reduce app development costs by 40-50 percent while cutting down on development time by as much as 75 percent.
