Technology drives Nigeria’s energy modernisation

energy-modernisationLAGOS, (CAJ News) – ENERGY companies are playing a leading role in supporting high-tech energy infrastructure projects in Nigeria, an executive at a multinational investor in the oil and gas industry has said.

Pascal Dauboin, Senior Advisor for Digital Technologies at Total, said this at the ongoing GITEX Technology Week in Dubai.

“In today’s interconnected world, the ability to find, share, and integrate knowledge from across the spectrum is essential,” said Dauboin.

He presented on “Open Innovation and Digital Oilfields” at GITEX  Technology Week, one of the world’s most influential technology events, which is hosting more than 4 000 exhibiting companies, 64 participating countries and 230 speakers.

Dauboin said the oil and gas industry was rapidly undergoing a digital transformation, with a rapid uptake in innovative technologies that are driving digital oilfields.

“Digitally transformed processes will increase performance, robustness and safety in many industrial domains, while building the job skills of tomorrow,” added Dauboin.

To promote international interest in ICT opportunities in Nigeria and across the continent, Nigeria’s National Information Technology Development Agency will later host an Africa Investment Forum at GITEX Technology Week.
