Safaricom offer apology over network outage

NAIROBI – KENYA’S SAFARICOM has apologised to its clients following a system outage affecting a number of core services on its network on Monday.
This outage affected voice, data, SMS, M-PESA and enterprise services.
The company said its engineers identified the root cause of the outage, which was a failure on both our core network as well as our redundancy options.
Safaricom explained its team worked to resolve the issue and invoked the company’s Business Continuity Planning protocol to restore services and the incident was marked as closed at 16h30 local time. This ended a seven-hour outage.
Chief Executive Officer, Bobby Collymore, assured customers their balances and the integrity of the Safaricom system was intact.
“We apologise for all inconveniences caused.”
