Nigeria Army call centre to restore soiled image

Nigeria-Army-hq-300x185ABUJA, (CAJ News) – PLAGUED by allegations of human rights violations, the Nigerian Army has established a call centre to receive complaints from members of the public.
The Minister of Communication, Barrister Abdurraheem Adebayo Shittu, commissioned the newly-established Nigerian Army Information and Call Centre (NAICC), at the Headquarters of the Army Abuja.
Brig. Gen. Sani Kukasheka Usman, Director of Army Public Relations Army Headquarters, said this was also in line with the Chief of Army Staff, Lieut. Gen. Tukur Yusufu Buratai’s determined efforts of making the Nigerian Army accessible, accountable and responsive in the discharge of its constitutional duties.
The NAICC, Usman said, is expected to also receive calls or complaints from troops serving in various parts of the country, thus, saving them the “stress” of using social media.
The newly-commissioned facility is equipped with modern communication gadgets, operated by specialists from various corps.
They will monitor and receive complaints from the public, relayed through the code 193, using any of the telecommunication service providers in the country.
The call centre is launched at a time the uniformed forces are accused of rutalising opponents of government.
It has denied the accusations.
