JOHANNESBURG, (CAJ News) – MTN South Africa, the official sponsor of the national rugby team, has launched an initiative that will reward a lucky fan with an opportunity to travel with the team around the world.

The individual, who will be handpicked, will get a once-in-a-lifetime chance to follow the journey of the Springboks, as the side is globally known, from the forthcoming Castle Lager Rugby Championship until the end of 2019.

Mapula Bodibe; Executive for Consumer Business at MTN SA, said the Springboks campaign was an opportunity for us to connect customers with their sporting passion.

“The Springbok team remains an important national asset that many of us can identify with, we are pleased to give our customers a platform that contributes to the growth of our national team,” Bodibe said.

Bodibe urged customers and rugby fans to continue supporting “Bok Fridays” by wearing their Springbok jerseys on Fridays for the incoming tour up to the Rugby World Cup in 2019.

Jurie Roux, Chief Executive Officer of SA Rugby, praised MTN for the initiative.

“Fan engagement is very important for us and this unique campaign by MTN is not only a fantastic way to connect Springbok supporters from across the globe with their favourite rugby team, but it will also bring one extremely lucky person closer to the team than ever before,” said Roux.

The Springboks, two-time World Cup winners, are among South Africa’s most successful teams.
