JOHANNESBURG – MTN South Africa’s multibillion-rand investment on network infrastructure and information systems over the past three years is paying dividends.

The mobile telecommunications company has committed R33 billion (US$2,478 billion) in capital expenditure (CAPEX) during this period.

MTN now has coverage all over the country, with 4G available in  metros, cities, towns and major routes linking Johannesburg and Durban as well as Tshwane and Polokwane to a large majority of customers.

The most recent accolade over the past three years is by a local technology news website, which ranked the company as the best mobile data provider in South Africa.

“We have made a firm commitment to transform our consumer experience and have delivered a network that is second to none,” said Giovanni Chiarelli, Chief Technology and Information Officer: MTN SA.

“This accolade encourages us to work harder to continue brightening the lives of our customers and maintain a Bozza network that is unequalled in South Africa.”

Godfrey Motsa, Chief Executive Officer: MTN SA, said the company was proud to have received such a prestigious accolade and thanked everyone who participated.

More than 4 000 broadband users participated in the survey that culminated in MTN named the best mobile data provider in South Africa.

“Our commitment to our customers is to continue to enhance and grow our network as we serve them in a manner that works for them, bringing them closer to what they want and need,” Motsa said.

MTN had previously been awarded the Best Network for fourth quarter (Q4) of 2016, and Q1 of 2018 by the technology website.

Engineering and testing company, P3 Communications GmbH, also ran a series of tests which established MTN’s network performance was superior when compared competitors in South Africa on both voice and data services.
